HIGH LINE.

high line.

the high line is a set of old train tracks built in the 1930's to lift freight traffic from the streets, but no trains have used the tracks since the 1980's. around 2006 the tracks began to be renovated into a park. the high line is on the west side, running from the Meatpacking District through Chelsea, from Gansevoort St to West 34th Street along 9th and 10th ave.

THE SECRET IS OUT

after six and a half years of working for urban outfitters, i have finally decided to part ways. this was an emotional decision, and one that took a lot of time to work up the courage to follow through with. life has so many opportunities and i no longer feel that this is the right one for me. i came to New York because it could offer me something that Chicago could not, but for almost an entire year i've lived here in the same routine that i had back home. it's time to see what else is out there.

what's the plan, you ask? well, it's kind of the do or die plan. i knew that i would never look for something else while continuing to work there, so i put in my notice without having the next stage completely figured out. i truly had to walk away to have the motivation to do it. i'm taking the month of may off to work on my personal projects and myself. i'm taking a vacation and truly just "living" for a couple of weeks. i've obviously begun to look for other jobs and will continue to do so. if i don't find something by the time my lease is up june 30, then traveling back to Chicago will become a real option for me. i have no idea what is to come in next couple months, but here we go.

sometimes life has other plans for you. a few weeks into my [extremely long] notice period, I received an a very exciting and flattering phone call. i was asked to reconsider leaving the company for a highly desired store back in chicago. after some consideration and pro/con list, i have decided to accept the offer. the truth of the matter is that chicago is where i want to be for my ideal lifestyle. new york may have more professional opportunities out there, but they aren't always so easy to find. it's a mixed bag of reactions from friends & loved ones, but my entire future is a giant game of "what if."
